Dr. Elena Herndon moved to the Birmingham area several years ago with her family.  She practices in a private practice setting located in the offices at Brookwood hospital.

 Dr. Herndon earned her bachelor's degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. She went on to obtain her medical degree at University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Her training in adult psychiatry took her to University of Connecticut where she successfully completed her residency.  While there, she served as chief resident and went on to earn the Resident of the Year award.

 Dr. Herndon is certified by the National Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She enjoys treating a variety of conditions including mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder; anxiety disorders including social anxiety, panic and obsessive-compulsive disorder; psychotic disorders and others. She is also interested on women's health issues.
